A quaich (pronounced quake) is a special kind of shallow two-handled drinking cup or bowl of a type traditional in the Highlands of Scotland. It derives from the Scottish Gaelic word cuach, which means cup. These days they are usually used in ceremonies such as weddings, or given as gifts to commemorate a special occasion such as a graduation or a significant birthday.
