After winning a much-coveted Scottish Thistle Award in an incredibly successful 2018, we are now turning our attention to the New Year and another exciting new season.
2019 will see us build on previous successes by launching a range of innovative new projects and services, and we’d like YOU to be a part of it! Castle Guides & Welcome Hosts
We are seeking to recruit seasonal tour guides to work inside the castle itself. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have the skills and experience of dealing with the public in a tourism-related environment. Previous experience in the heritage sector is unnecessary as it is more important that you possess a warm, cheerful, and welcoming personality. All other training will be provided.
We also welcome applicants who might wish to job share and work on a part-time basis (2 or 3 days per week.)
If you’re a caring individual with a warm, welcoming and enthusiastic personality we’d like to hear from you. We have a number of positions with very varied responsibilities where we are looking for friendly folk to interact directly with our visitors. One minute you might be selling tickets from our sparkling new ticket office; the next you might be handing out our new audio-guides and offering visitors simple instruction and assistance. You might be snapping a photo for that visiting family from Australia, or simply directing someone in the direction of our coffee shop or gift shop. Visitors always have a myriad of questions, and you and your chatty personality will be central to helping them.
We’re looking for two great all-rounders! People who crave variety in their workplace and who possess the skills and flexibility to move seamlessly from one department to another. Within the operation, pressure points move and change throughout the day so having people who can slot in wherever they might be needed is a huge advantage. This role is not for everyone as some people like to stay put in the one department, but we have a comprehensive training programme that will help the right individuals enjoy a vibrant and exciting role. You will rotate between our Gift Shop, Visitor Services, Castle, and Catering operations, so no two days will ever be the same!
Catering Assistants & Chefs with flair!
(Coffee Shop & NEW Takeaway Outlet)
We’re going to be opening a brand new takeaway catering concept in 2019, located within the new extension to our visitor centre. We’ll be looking for people to help us launch that new operation, as well as searching for the right kind of people for our traditional Coffee Shop.
Gift Shop Assistant (1st April-1st October)
We will have a requirement for a seasonal assistant in our busy Gift Shop. Previous retail experience and/or knowledge of EPOS systems would be preferable but not essential as training will be provided to the successful applicant.
With our expanding visitor centre, we’re looking for part-time cleaners. We can be flexible with numbers of days and number of hours, so why not come along and have a wee chat about what might suit you.
